Hello again Family, friends and fans.
So I'm back with something more easy DIY, this time I was inspired by the
lights at http://www.sollight.com/products/lightcap.cfm
Sure they might be all small and nice, and you can drink the beverage you
store in them, but I thought I'd take a shot at making something similar.
Since I know very little about electronics, mimicing the lightcap was out
of the question, but those gardenlights has everything that you need, all
you have to do is exchange the lightbulb with a led.
I was a bit (but not that much) suprised when I saw that the solar powerd
garden lights that I bought had a led and not a lightulb. That made the
whole task much easier, and a bit more booring.
I removed all the crap from the light that I didnt need, then glued
everything on the bottom side shut. poured some water into the cups and
viola, solar powerd pink lights.
As you can se on the pictures the glue on the led really made the light
look a lot nicer, also going through the water gives it a nice glow.
This was dead easy, and it cost's about nothing.
For the cups I payed about 1 Eur and the lights where 6 Eur each (which I
think is at the expensive side, so I only bought two). so Thats 7 Eur vs 25
us dollars (freight excluded) they are not the same thing, but yeah, similar.
They are now in one of my apple trees, collecting and giving light, and I
really hope these wont get stolen as so many of the things I have had
in my garden.
Here are some pictures of the process, probably more useful then the text.
The cups and the solar powerd garden lights.
The inside of the box and glue gun.
These holes need plugging if it's gonna be resistent to water.
Glued shut.
A water filled cup.
More glue, I like to glue.
Finished result.
Looks much better in the dark, imagine these in a tree!
/Johan
