TC-Helion’s iPhone App Voice-jam looses songs.

TC-Helion’s iPhone App Voice-jam looses songs so I wrote them this letter.

“Hi there

I bought voice-jam a few days ago. While it is nice and I really like it it has on destroyed three of my jam sessions. That is three songs I will never ever get back.

It seems that it does not save jam-sessions, nor does it warn you that you are recording over something you’ve recorded before. When you “save to new” it does not save the jam-session.

The way you’ve implemented this feature is so bad that I just couldn’t believe that someone of your caliber had done such a sloppy job. Surely this is not the first time you hear this?

Is there some way you can bring my songs back?

Also on your supportpage, there are no Product that fit’s Voice-Jam.

/Johan”

Also, you cant get support unless you create an account with them.

  1. I agree it’s confusing. I haven’t seen any problems with loosing songs though. It seems a session only contains one performance recording, so if you hit the record icon it overwrites what you had before. I agree a warning would be good. However once the current session is saved, I notice that if I accidentally overwrite it, all I have to do is re-load the session and it comes back (as long as I don’t save before doing that). Finally, when I do save to new, it definitely saves the recording session for me. Does yours not? I agree it’s confusing. I find the best way is to always hit “new session” when you want to start from scratch, otherwise you’ll be saving over the last session (unless you go save to new). Finally, agreed there should be another way to extract the performances without using soundcloud!

  2. PS.. just thinking out-loud: As a good way to improve this for a future update, I wonder if Helicon should implement a cleaner interface where performance recordings are completely separate from sessions. I.e. sessions should only contain the loops, and performance recordings should be like a list of time/dated recordings that can be managed separately (i.e. souncloud, tcpip transfer, etc).

  3. Hi! Could you help me?I don’t know how to copy and save songs I made to my computer (from VoiceJam) 🙁
